Play dough can provide hours of fun and is a particularly good way of keeping a toddler entertained for an hour or so. This is especially useful if you are trying to teach their older brother or sister! For extra fun and creativity you can give them various implements to use such as: a plastic baby fork, a small pot or container, plastic cookie cutters, a small sieve, etc. A highchair is a good place for a toddler with play dough as the mess will be contained somewhat!

Play dough Recipe:

2 tsps cream of tartar               1 tbsp oil

1 cup plain flour                        few drops food colouring

½ cup salt                                  1 cup water

Put the oil, food colouring and water in a saucepan. Stir in the dry ingredients and heat over a medium heat until a stiff, smooth dough is formed. Allow to cool before using.  Play dough can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to two months.
